Aqua Agility—This shallow end class offers some cardio, but concentrates more on agility, range of motion, balance and strengthening and stretching the muscles.
Aqua Cardio—This shallow end class focuses on giving the participants a good cardiovascular workout. This class has a lot of movement and directional changes and is kept at a high intensity.
Aqua Jog—This deep end class offers a no-impact workout that offers great resistance training. Swimming ability is required.
Arthritis Class—This low key shallow end class focuses on range of motion from head to toe. No equipment is needed in this class.
Aqua Aerobics—A shallow end low impact class. This class gets your heart pumping while you have fun in the water.
Silver Splash®—Activate your aqua urge for variety! Silver Splash offers LOTS of fun and shallow water moves to improve agility, flexibility and cardiovascular endurance. No swimming ability is required, and a special Silver Sneakers kickboard is used to develop strength, balance and coordination.
FYI: During each hour, the pool will close for 10 minutes for Lifeguard to attend to pool maintenance and personal needs. Pool temperature is kept between 84-86 degrees for year round swimming comfort.

A bootcamp style class that is mixture of regimens from abdominal workouts, team relays, group challenges, circuit training, and much more. This class is guaranteed to take the stress out of your life and give you a sense of accomplishment.
Indoor cycling classes offer high energy stationary bike workouts that enhance cardiovascular endurance and muscular strength.
Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.
This class targets flexibility, range of movement, balance and mind-body integration. It offers light to moderately intense rhythmic and static range of movement choreography and progressive breathing exercise instruction. This class includes a chair for seated and standing support.
This class lets you have fun while using the step platform to perform high energy low impact moves all to benefit your cardiovascular system.
This class focuses on strengthening and toning all the major muscles. A variety of equipment is provided. Select person intensity levels during the workout through body position and bike tension.

Strength Training Orientation
Call or stop by our Health & Fitness office to schedule training orientation appointment. Our staff can help you get off to a great start by teaching you how to correctly use the equipment in the Port Arthur YMCA weight room. This orientation is mandatory for all members ages 12-14 who wish to use the weight room.
American Safety and Health Institute CPR/AED & First Aid Training.
Port Arthur YMCA hosts American Safety and Health Institute CPR/AED & First Aid Training. We reserve the right to cancel classes due to low enrollment. We will make every effort to contact participants in the event of cancellation. These classes provide 2 year certification. Valid email address must be given at time of registration. Pre-course online certificate of completion must be presented at class. Deadline for registration is Wednesday PRIOR to Saturday class.
American Heart Association CPR/AED:
This course teaches the basic techniques of adult CPR and use of an automated external defibrillator. Students also learn about using barrier devices in CPR and giving first aid for choking. The course teaches how to recognize the signs of four major emergencies: heart attack, stroke, cardiac arrest, and foreign-body obstruction. Pre-course Online Certificate of Completion required.
American Safety and Health First Aid:
This course stresses care for adults and children, and provides more in-depth hands on skills for participants who may encounter emergencies with delayed emergency medical response. Universal Module includes introduction to rescue techniques for victims. Pre-course Online Certificate of Completion required.
